Updates/Reminders
The Craft Fair, coordinated by the Parent's Association, will take place on Saturday, October 13th from 10-3. The Parent's Association supports many requests for funds from our teachers and scholarships for our students. If you have time to visit the Craft Fair, I know that they would appreciate your support.
Due to the Craft Fair, teachers are reminded that the teacher's room will be open to the public...therefore, you may wish to remove your mail prior to leaving the building today.
The football team will play Upper Cape on Saturday at 3:00 p.m. When you finish visiting the Craft Fair, you are welcome to come out to the field and cheer on our Vikings!
All students and staff are invited to run/jog/walk the Monster Dash 5k in Marshfield on Oct. 27th along with the Running Club. If you are interested, please let Meredith know.
Interested in a professional development activity? Be sure to fill out the paperwork and secure approvals prior to the event.
Something to think about...
Giving More than One Letter Grade for a Project
When asked to distinguish from achievement and work habits grades, in most cases the distinction is clear: Achievement grades measure content or skill standards. Work Habits grades reflect the soft skills, effort or other habits that the student beings to the task or project.
But what happens when you have a big project or task that incorporates both achievement and work habits elements? Imagine a teacher rubric for the project that includes achievement elements (accuracy, absence of errors) but it also includes work habits elements such as timeliness, neatness. What category do you place the grade in...Achievement or Work Habits?
My guess would be Achievement...If you have been assigning a project one cumulative Achievement letter grade, consider this alternative: Give two letter grades, one for achievement and one for work habits. It might take an extra step but it will clearly distinguish what the student's performance was based upon.
Thoughts? Feedback is welcomed and encouraged!
